What makes Voyce's interpreters different?
Voyce interpreter candidates are required to meet the company’s rigorous requirements for consideration: two years of confirmed professional interpretation experience and 60 hours of professional interpretation training. Voyce interpreters hold an average of over 4 years of interpreting experience prior to joining Voyce’s team, and 90% of Voyce interpreters are native speakers of the target language.
Voyce's medical interpreters care. With a deep understanding of cultural nuances and the ability to convey complex medical terminology in a sensitive manner, Voyce's medical interpreters ensure that patients receive the care they need with dignity and respect.
Voyce prioritizes working with professional interpreters who hold nationally or internationally recognized interpreting certifications. In addition to Voyce’s in-house training, most Voyce interpreters have certificates issued by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI), and all of Voyce’s ASL interpreters hold Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification. Voyce’s call routing prioritizes certified interpreters.
What training do Voyce's interpreters recieve?
The Voyce University curriculum is comprised of 60 hours of coursework that qualifies interpreters to Voyce’s industry-leading standards while setting them up to succeed in a variety of independent certification exams. It includes a standard curriculum and modules. This training content continues to be modified and improved in response to client feedback, suggestions from interpreters, and to meet the industry’s ever-evolving standards.
Tests and quizzes are scattered throughout the coursework, and interpreters must complete a live, monitored assessment exam for fluency and professional interpretation skills with a score of 90% or higher to service Voyce clients. This comprehensive testing covers not only language fluency in both English and the target language, but also requires interpreters to display proficiency in:
• Industry-specific terminology (lexicons)
• Common colloquialisms
• Customer service
• Message accuracy
• Interpreting in the first person
• Maintaining neutrality
• Cultural competency
• Adherence to the interpreter ethics codes
Voyce University also grants certificates in various subdomains such as medicine, law, finance, insurance, and pharmacy. When interpreters complete training in a subdomain and pass the required tests, they are granted certificates which allow them to accept interpretation requests from clients in these categories.
Because of Voyce’s focus on medical interpretation, Voyce prioritizes hiring interpreters with experience in healthcare interpreting and competency in diverse medical settings like emergency rooms and mental health clinics.
