Voyce Doubles Interpreter Training Requirements, Now Triple the Industry Standard

Under Equiti, Voyce has increased its medical interpreter training requirement from 60 to 120 hours – triple the industry standard.

Voyce, a leader in technology-driven medical interpretation services, has set a new standard for healthcare language access by doubling its interpreter training requirement from 60 to 120 hours – triple the industry standard.

This increase underscores the commitment of Voyce and its parent company, Equiti, to delivering the highest quality interpretation services to healthcare providers and patients with limited English proficiency (LEP).

Voyce's enhanced training initiative ensures that its interpreters are better equipped than ever to support patients and providers across North America. The new 120-hour program, which includes expanded classroom instruction and hands-on coaching, sets a gold standard in healthcare interpretation — aligning with industry best practices and reinforcing safety, accuracy, and cultural sensitivity.

This initiative is one of several service enhancements resulting from Voyce’s integration under Equiti, uniting two of healthcare’s largest and most innovative language access providers — Voyce and Martti.

“At Equiti, we believe that every patient deserves clear, compassionate, accurate communication,” said Maureen Huber, CEO of Equiti. “By doubling Voyce interpreter training hours, we’re ensuring that our professionals are skilled in communicating and deeply trained in the complexities of medical interpretation.”

Equiti’s enhanced training curriculum includes:

80 Hours of Classroom Instruction

  • Advanced language proficiency and terminology
  • Ethics, confidentiality, and professional standards
  • Cultural sensitivity training to bridge communication gaps effectively

40 Hours of Hands-On Coaching & Mentorship

  • Real-world interpretation scenarios
  • Supervised practice with experienced professionals
  • Personalized feedback to refine accuracy and professionalism

By doubling Voyce interpreter training requirements, Equiti is ensuring:

  • Higher interpreter accuracy and professionalism, helping prevent miscommunication in critical healthcare settings
  • Improved patient experience, leading to better health outcomes for LEP patients
  • Greater confidence for healthcare providers, knowing they have access to highly trained medical interpreters

“We’ve tripled the industry standard,” said Danielle Meder, Director of Organizational Quality and Partner Support at Equiti.

“The additional training, hands-on coaching, and rigorous quality assurance ensure that every Voyce interpreter is fully prepared to handle the complexities of medical interpretation, giving every patient the ability to communicate autonomously and receive clear, effective care.”

In addition to 120 hours of training prior to onboarding, Voyce interpreters also complete annual continuing education requirements covering medical terminology, compliance, and ethics.
